Hon. Kennedy Agyapong sponsors $588K Harvard Medical School for NDC man’s son
The Member of Parliament, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong of Assin Central in parliament for the New Patriotic Party has sponsored the son of an NDC assemblyman to study medicine at Harvard Medical School for 7 years. The Assemblyman is Hon. Asofia, of the Dwaaso electoral area in Assin Central.
The member of parliament for Assin Central will pay $84,000 each year for 7 years for the Legon Presec Graduate who score 8 As in the 2021 WASSCE. The total fees to be paid by the MP amounts to some $588,000 for the seven years of medical school education at the Harvard Medical School
The shocking gesture and scholarship translate into a whopping 3.6 million Ghana cedis was beyond the imagination of the father of the beneficiary student who was thankful to the MP for the kind gesture.

The Free SHS graduate who studied Science in Presec Legon could not access tertiary education since his father who is the Assemblyman and a member of the opposition NDC could not afford the education bill.
According to information available to Ghanaeducation.org, the Philanthropic Member of parliament while speaking at the function on 31st December 2021 said, when it comes to education, he [Hon. Kennedy Agyapong] does not allow politics to divide the people.”When it comes to education, politics shouldn’t divide us”.

He added that he will not allow politics to influence his decision to support the student, since such a move will not portray him as a good leader. The Assin Central MP furthered that, the credit should be given to the Free SHS which offered the student the opportunity to access secondary education. In a related development, the MP is sponsoring another student (the child of a single mother) who also obtained 7 As in the WASSCE.

The gesture of the Philanthropic Member of parliament is part of the MP’s 31st December annual program which aims at touching lives.

On the day, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong donated 1,500 pieces of cloth, 500 bags of rice, 93 boxes of oil, 315 standing hairdryers, 528 sewing machines, 30 sterilizers, 30 industrial irons, 30 cutting machines, 30 hair washing bowls, 30 embroidery machines, 30 hanging hairdryers, and 24 hand dryers to all 15 electoral areas in the Assin Central Constituency in addition to the scholarships.
