How BECE 2023 Candidates Must Answer Specific Social Studies Questions For High Scores.
Learning social studies and mastering is not good enough. BECE 2023 candidates must know how to answer specific Social Studies questions for high scores a d grades.
The question answering skills and knowledge shared in this article will turn every BECE candidate who takes the suggestions seriously into high-scoring students.
We share use questions and examples to demonstrate the social studies question-answering skills you need to learn.
Teachers of social studies are also encouraged to study the suggested approaches to help their candidates.
How to answer social studies questions that require students to describe when related to diagrams.
To answer such questions…
1. Draw and label the diagram first. Make sure the diagram is well drawn and labeled correctly because marks will be awarded for both the drawing and the parts labeled.
2. Describe the diagram/process in words.
Now let us use a question to practice.
BECE 2005/2007 Q3b.
With the help of a diagram describe how any one type of rainfall is formed.
Step 1: Draw and label the diagram
Step 2: Describe the describe in words, in this case, describe how the rainfall type you chose is formed in the correct order.
Relief rainfall
a. Relief rainfall is commonly experienced in hilly areas.
b. Moist wind from the sea or lakes blows against highlands.
b. The moist wind is then forced to rise.
c. As the moist wind rises higher, they cool.
d. This leads to rainfall on the windward slope of the hill or mountain.
e. There is little or no rain on the leeward slope of the mountain.

When answering social studies questions, avoid the use of single words. Do not merely mention answers and don’t use phrasal statements as answers if you want to score the full marks for questions.

Wrong answer 1: Very poor answers
a. Hot water
b. Oil Spillage
c. Poisonous chemicals
d. Untreated sewage
Wrong answer 2: Average answers
a. Hot water from power stations will raise the temperature of the water bodies they are flowing into
b. Oil spillage may foul beaches.
c.The poisonous chemicals will reduce the oxygen in water bodies.
d. Untreated sewage contains germs and causes diseases.
Perfect Answer
Now if you want to score the full marks, write answers in this form.
a.Hot water from power stations and boilers raises the temperature for water bodies they flow into and kill aquatic life in such water bodies.
b. Oil spillage into water bodies will interfere with the recreational use of these water bodies.
c. Poisonous chemicals will flow into lakes, rivers, and other water bodies and reduce the air (oxygen) aquatic animals breathe.
d. Untreated sewage contains germs and when released into water bodies, they can lead to diseases such as cholera and typhoid.

B. When did it take place?
C. Who was or were behind it?
D. Why did the event take place?
E. Any positive or negative effects? Mention just one.

The sagrenti war was a war that ensued between the Asantes and the British.It was named Sagrenti war because the Asantes weren’t able to pronounce the name Sis Garnet Wolsely well.It took place in the year 1874.In this war,the Asantes wanted to rebuild their empire and also retaliate as the British helped the Fantes in the Battle of Nsamanko and Akatamanso respectively.The British defeated the Asantes in this war.It led to the burning of Kumasi and therefore claimed many lives and properties
