Do you know if your mobile phone can use the new AirtelTigo Electronic SIM card known as the eSIM? What about the procedure to check and get it so that you do not use the physical SIM card any longer? Getting this eSIM would mean you can use up to three SIMs in a mobile phone that currently has two SIM slots.
What is an AirtelTigo eSIM?
An eSim is an Electronic SIM Card. An eSIM is a SIM card that is embedded in a mobile device and can connect you to any operator offering eSIM services. It works just like any physical SIM card you currently have in your mobile device.
If you get an eSIM, you do not need to put a physical traditional SIM card with the same number into your phone again. AirtelTigo requires that you visit their office to get it installed for you.
How to use Electronic SIM in Ghana (No need for physical SIMs)
To get the AirtelTigo eSIM, and know if your phone is compactible, follow these steps
#1. To get an eSIM, first, dial *#06# on your phone to know if your phone is eSIM enabled.
#2. If the barcodes have EID (the phone is eSIM enabled).
#3. Visit any nearby office with a valid national ID if your phone is eSIM-supported.
After going through the process above, you must get an image popping up on your phone like the one shared below. It shows that you can use the eSIM in your phone.

If the “Add Mobile plan” is available, it should mean that your device supports eSIMs. You can also tap “IMEI” in the search bar of your settings, and the option “IMEI information” (or similar) should show up. If the “IMEI (eSIM)” is available, it means that your device supports eSIM. The IMEI information bar code will show if your phone is eSIM compactible. Look at an example below.
