John Kumah’s Father Reacts To His Death

John Kumah’s father has reacted to the death of his beloved son and shared poignant recollections of his son’s final hours.
John Kumah, also Deputy Finance Minister Designate, had returned home to partake in the 67th Independence Day festivities on March 6, 2024, a day intended for jubilation and national pride. However, fate had a different plan as illness struck, preventing John from fulfilling his duties.
In a heart-wrenching interview with Nhyira FM, Mr. Kumah’s father revealed how his son, despite his illness, maintained a sense of peace and contentment. Despite feeling unwell, John had reached out to the constituency Chairman, expressing his inability to attend the celebration and arranging for a donation of GH₵10,000 to mark the occasion. Later that evening, as the family retired to bed, Mr. Kumah noticed his son’s restlessness, unable to comprehend the gravity of the situation.

Throughout the night, John remained serenely asleep, his demeanor seemingly unaffected by the looming illness. Despite his father’s concern, John reassured him that all was well, masking any underlying distress with a calm demeanor. In retrospect, Mr. Kumah couldn’t help but interpret John’s demeanor as an acceptance of his fate and a peaceful resolve.
As dawn broke, the family carried on with their daily routines, albeit overshadowed by an unspoken tension. Despite his father’s probing, John remained stoic, his smile masking any internal turmoil. It was in these final moments, amidst the quiet contemplation and silent smiles, that Mr. Kumah found solace in the belief that his son had found peace and happiness, even in the face of adversity.
Tragically, John’s health deteriorated rapidly, necessitating urgent medical attention. Despite efforts to transport him to Accra for further treatment, fate intervened once again, redirecting the ambulance to the Suhum Government Hospital where John passed away. His sudden demise left a void in the hearts of many, his legacy as a dedicated public servant and advocate for his constituents enduring beyond his untimely departure. As mourners gathered at the Kumah residence in Ejisu, tears flowed freely, a testament to the profound impact John had on those around him.
