Just In: Chairman Wontumi bids for Ronaldo’s transfer to Asante Kotoko
Chairman Wontumi, a wealthy businessman from Ghana, wants to bring Cristiano Ronaldo, a star player from Portugal, to Kumasi Asante Kotoko, a team in Ghana’s Premier League.
Andy Owusu, an assistant to Chairman Wontumi, told Kwame Adinkrah, host of Kumasi-based Pure FM’s “Pure Morning Drive” program, in a confirmation message that they have already written their proposal letter for the purchase of Ronaldo to Kumasi Asante Kotoko Supporting Club and plan to submit their bid by November 25, 2022.
The 45-year-old Ghanaian politician and businessman made news recently when he tried to buy the English Premier League team Chelsea for $3.1 billion (£2.4 million). His offer was turned down.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who is 37 and from Portugal, has been released from his contract with Manchester United.
On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 5:30 p.m., United released a 67-word statement that was very harsh about the club icon.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is leaving Manchester United by mutual agreement and will do so immediately,” the Old Trafford club said. To save themselves £11.5 million, they will NOT offer their legendary No. 7 a payoff.
“The club thanks him for all he did during his two stints at Old Trafford, where he scored 145 goals in 346 games, and wishes him and his family all the best for the future.”
