JUST IN: ECG To Release 14-Day Power Schedule Following Atuabo Shutdown
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) plans to provide a timetable to inform customers as gas supply to some power plants will be disrupted for the next two weeks due to the shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant in the Western Region.
The scheduled shutdown, which began on March 25, is designed to ensure the reliability of the gas processing plant and transmission infrastructure.
According to a news release issued by the Ministry of Energy on March 29, the suspension may disrupt gas delivery to several power plants, resulting in power interruptions for some customers.
The ECG will soon issue a schedule informing customers about the disruptions. The Ministry has indicated that plans are in place to obtain additional gas from Nigeria in order to deal with the potential negative effects.
Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) and Light Crude Oil (LCO) will make up the increased supply from Nigeria.
The Ministry’s “Dum Siesie” program, which promises consistent power supply through vigorous maintenance efforts, also tries to mitigate any negative repercussions of the closure.
