Kamaldeen Sulemana to miss Qatar 2022 World Cup
Kamaldeen Sulemana, a Ghanaian national team winger, injured his ankle during training and must now race to get back in shape for the World Cup.
Rennes’ last Europa League group-stage match was on Thursday, and the player in question did not play.
Rennes head coach Bruno Genesio said after the game that despite the injury, he hoped the Ghanaian would be fine for the World Cup.
He hurt his ankle and was in a lot of pain yesterday. I’m hoping he’ll be able to play in the World Cup.
Sulemana is not expected to play for Rennes again until after the World Cup in Qatar, according to French writer Thomas Rassouli, who was present at the post-match press conference. Sulemana’s return has been confirmed by the 3 Sports crew.
According to the current situation, he “may not be on the field for Rennes until after the World Cup.”
Since suffering a back injury that kept him out for 74 days the previous season, the 20-year-old has worked hard to earn his way back into Rennes’ starting line-up.
