Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, South African superstar also known as AKA has passed away. According to several media sources, he was shot dead by unknown persons.

He was 35 years old. News of his death has hit Twitter and has been trending since it was made public via social media some minutes ago.

Disturbing news from South Africa indicates that the rapper was shot in Florida Rd, Durban, SA police confirms.

An eyewitness says he was allegedly shot 5 times at 8 pm and was the only one gunned down at the scene.

The sad incident is reported to have happened in front of YUGO nightclub located in Stamford Hill in Durban (South Africa) where he was set to perform this night as part of his 35th birthday celebration.

Reports from South African Media houses indicate that AKA was shot and killed after he posted his location on Instagram.

The sad incident took place on Florida Road, Durban. Other witnesses report that he was shot 6 times outside a nightlife venue.

This is a devastating loss for the South African hip-hop community.

The Florida Road in Morningside has a chain of bars and restaurants.

The suspects behind the crime are not known yet. However, information available indicates that an altercation broke out earlier and firearms were discharged. This is believed to have happened after AKA posted his location on Instagram and just before his birthday show tonight.

The rapper was rushed to the nearest health facility but was pronounced dead by doctors upon arrival at the hospital.

An eyewitness who spoke with the media is reported to have said;

“I can confirm that two men were killed and one of them is a well-known rapper. Police will not be releasing any names of the victims yet until a full investigation is completed”
