KNUST Expands Academic Offerings with New BA in Public Administration for 2024/2025 Academic Year

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is set to expand its academic horizon by introducing an undergraduate program, BA in Public Administration, for the 2024/2025 academic year.
This new degree will be housed under the Department of History, Political Science, and Public Administration, reflecting KNUST’s commitment to fostering a comprehensive educational environment.
Miss Rita Dickson, the Vice Chancellor of KNUST, has emphasized the importance of this initiative as part of the university’s broader mission to nurture versatile leaders equipped to address complex societal challenges.
Public Administration is a field that molds students into effective administrators, policy analysts, and public sector leaders, preparing them for roles that directly impact the governance and development of societies.
The introduction of the BA in Public Administration at KNUST comes amid criticisms that the university, traditionally celebrated for its focus on science and technology, is increasingly embracing humanities and social sciences.
Critics argue that this shift might dilute the university’s renowned emphasis on STEM fields.
However, this expansion can also be seen as a strategic diversification, aiming to balance technical proficiency with the critical soft skills and governance acumen provided by social sciences.
