KU ME PREKO DEMO RELOADED! Massive Demo To Hit Gov’t On November 5 As Fighters League Announces Participation
Members of the Economic Fighters League have stated that they will actively participate in the demonstration organized by Martin Kpebu, a private attorney.
Martin Kpebu is organizing a protest because he believes the president should resign due to the current economic situation.
Mr. Kpebu announced on Facebook, “Ku me preko demo for God and country.” Let us join the reloaded ku me preko demo to force Akufo-Addo to resign.”
He has scheduled the march to begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022.
“Recent developments in our nation have highlighted the fact that Akufo-Addo and his NPP cabal have become so comfortable in their stealing and capture that the voice of the People demanding accountability is often swallowed by his government’s impunity and contempt,” the Fighters said in a statement.
“In this regard, the Economic Fighters League will always applaud and support any effort made by Ghanaians to challenge the system, and as such, we will participate in the November 5 Accra Demo.” However, as we organize, we must remember that, while it is understandable to focus on the immediate issues at hand in order to ensure survival in times of crisis, the political beast we face has a long-term plan to dominate and deprive us citizens of our power. That beast is Ghana’s rotten NPP-NDC duopoly, which has plagued the country for thirty years.
The Economic Fighters League has always maintained that the NPP and the NDC are the same party and that both must be eliminated. To truly liberate and save Ghana, we must break free from the pendulum that has held us captive since 1992. We must #EndNPPNDCRule, which is why our movement has resolved to build an alternative to these two through conscious, consistent grassroots organizing.”
On November 1st, we made contact with Martin Kpebu, the sole organizer of the November 5th demonstration. The goal was to determine whether we had unity of objective because an organization without unity of objective is merely mobilization, vulnerable to imposing motives and wasting all of our valuable time at a critical time. Our position on the current state of affairs was as follows: “The current crisis is the culmination of, among other things, years of corruption and self-interest on the part of both the NPP and the NDC, the rotten political duopoly birthed by the 1992 constitution.”
This period has been sanctioned and supported by the 1992 constitution, over which the NPP and NDC have custody. This constitution transfers power from the people to the political establishment, denying Ghanaians the right to power. This constitution must be repealed and replaced with a new, people-centric constitution. The NPP-NDC duopoly has deceived Ghanaians into believing that change has occurred and is occurring, while instead exploiting the people’s power for personal gain. As a result, in order to establish true and sustainable democracy, this pendulum duopoly must be broken.
“That is to say, Akufo-Addo and his NPP must go, but so must the entire rotten system he is currently in charge of. We cannot mobilize for the removal of one while leaving a vacuum for the other; we must prevent the NDC from cooping this people’s action, which, along with the NPP, is equally responsible for the crisis we are currently in. Mr. Kpebu has responded positively to the above questions, indicating that he is unaffiliated with any political party.
The demonstration on November 5th provides a credible platform for Ghanaians to put pressure on the current stewards of this decaying system. However, as things stand, we must be strategic in our approach to saving Ghana. We must not allow ourselves to be co-opted in this time of crisis for the partisan interests of the NPP-NDC duopoly, the very forces responsible for the crisis.
“We have to be very clear. It is not only Akufo-Addo who must leave. His corrupt NPP must also be removed. The NDC, their corrupt partner in crime, must be removed. Mahama, the NDC’s figurehead, must also go. The entire oppressive system, as well as the constitution that underpins it, must be abolished. Akufo-Addo and his NPP, like Mahama and his NDC before them, are merely symptoms of and custodians of a system that must be demolished if Ghana is to survive and thrive.
“So, Comrades, we urge you to participate in the November 5th Demo. But, as we address the symptoms, tear down and uproot the custodians, keep in mind what will truly save Ghana: a system that serves the people under a #NewConstitutionNOW; a movement by the people to organize and reclaim our power #Organise4Power; and the construction of a new, sustainable alternative.
“It is only through this that we can ensure that Mother Ghana is never again plagued by the rot of Akufo-Addo and his NPP, Mahama and his NDC, and any other ‘force’ that seeks to claim the People’s power for their own selfish interest.”
