Lebanese Community awards scholarships to 8 Ghana school of law students

The Lebanese Community in Ghana has given 8 intelligent law pupils at the Ghana School of Law, Makola, scholarships for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The 2024/2025 academic year saw an extension in the programme to apply first-year students to the scheme. Till today, only second-year students at the institution benefitted, but the progress now guarantees many law pupils the chance to get access to lawful education.
Some renowned individuals, like the Lebanese Ambassador, His Excellency Maher Kheir; the Registrar at GSL, Mrs Juliet Adu-Adjei; other staff from the GSL; and a representative of the Lebanese Community, Mr Naaman Ashkar, were present at the vibrant event.
Grantees comprising Emenyo Afi Nnutakor, Ohenewaa Asantewaa Armoh, Abigail Nakuor Wowolo, Chelsea Coffie, Keren Sackey, Jasmine Tekyi-Acheampong, Maame Ekua Otenewa Oduro and Dion Kassim.
In his speech at the event, H.E. Ambassador Maher Kheir stated that becoming a lawyer focusing on grasping legal texts or progressing in examinations only does not guarantee you becoming a lawyer, but it is about standing for justice. He also said it is about employing your voice to guard and protect the speechless. It is about performing duties with honesty even at moments where it is not easy.
He confronted students to attempt to transform the lawful career and play a crucial role responsibly in society. He stated that if you carry on with the same momentum, you will prevail not only in graduating but also in graduating to become lawyers in the future – leaders prepared to transform.
Ambassador Kheir emphasised that the aid through the Lebanese Community Scholarship Program forms part of an attempt to appreciate their efforts while sending a message that “excellence demands acknowledgement and help.”
He requested the recipients to “stay peculiar and confident. They should help one another and always remember the reason why they started taking this rid”e.
Dr Georgina Ahorbor, Students Affairs Officer, Ghana School of Law showed appreciation to the Lebanese Community for their financial aid to pupil as time went by. She stated the importance of these awards that gives benefits in some other ways to take away the financial weight on pupil.
She announced expressing their gratefulness for this scholarships given to thier students. It always goes a very long way to buffer them and their parents or guardians at the same time, permitting them to concentrate on their academic works. “We don’t take it for granted,” she added.
Nevertheless, she made a heartfelt request for so many things to be done in order to support many more pupils open to lawful education at the school. She stated that while we show our gratitude for the affectionate action today, we would also like to urge for more so that many more intelligent but strapped pupils at the Ghana School of Law can get some support.
