“Last year, around October, I found myself in a situation where a number of elders approached me. According to them, they had already convened to discuss the possibility of me becoming their MP, but as an independent candidate. They assured me of their commitment to ensure my victory in the election.

“More recently, their concern was intensified due to my latest movie, ‘Mr. President.’ They came for a copy of the movie and after watching it, they came and informed me that no matter what they have spoken with my mother, my uncle Wofa Atta and a lot of my family members that, I have to become an MP.”

TV3 to be sued for ‘false publication’ about Education Minister

This comes few days ago after the former president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama advised Lilwin not to go into politics.

He advised him to stay away from politics if he intended to maintain his relevance within the movie industry.

During an interview with Oyerepa TV, Lilwin details how he doesn’t like the acrimony that comes with politics. The actor adds that supporting a political party would have also hindered his vision of owning a school for all.

“For me I don’t do politics, I am an asset to the nation, so I love everybody. NPP belongs to us and NDC also belongs to us but since I was young, I said to myself that I will never engage myself in politics because I knew I will be a proprietor of a school one day.

However, he has decided to do politics but contest as an independent ticket.
