Lusail Stadium: Three things to know about the 2022 World Cup final venue
In less than three weeks, the 2022 World Cup will start in Qatar. As the excitement grows, Qatar is going full speed ahead to make sure that nothing is missed in the lead-up to football’s biggest party.
All eight stadiums for the World Cup have been shown to the public and tested to make sure they are ready to go. The Lusail Stadium was the most recent one to open. Last Friday, Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia and Zamalek of Egypt played in the Lusail Super Cup.
The World Cup final will be held on December 18 at the 80,000-seat Lusail Stadium, which is the largest stadium in Qatar.
It is a feat of engineering, with cutting-edge features like the Advanced Cooling Tech. Let’s look at three` things you need to know about the best World Cup stadium in Qatar.
A stunning venue fit to host the 2022 World Cup final
During the 2022 World Cup, there will be a total of 10 games at Lusail Stadium. The biggest game will be the 2022 World Cup final.
Before the final, it will host the Round of 16, the quarterfinals, and the semifinals. It will also host six games from the group stage. The first World Cup game at the Lusail Stadium will be a Group C match between Argentina and Saudi Arabia.
A ‘Green’ Stadium
The stadium was built using green methods and technologies, like recycling used water. In fact, 40% more water was saved during the building of Lusail Stadium than during other similar projects. Plants around the stadium were later watered with recycled water.
The roof of the stadium is also “green.” It was made with Polytetrafluoroethylene, which keeps out warm wind and dust while letting in enough light for the pitch to grow. It also gives enough shade to make the stadium’s cooling system work less hard.
Under the Global Sustainability Assessment System, both the Design & Build and Construction of the stadium were given five stars.
Easily accessible
The best thing about Lusail Stadium for World Cup fans is how easy it is to get there. It is only 15 km north of the city of Doha. Fans can take the Doha Metro and get off at the Red Line’s Lusail QNB Station, which is close to the venue.
The Al Khor Expressway can also be used to get to the stadium.
During the 2022 World Cup, people with a Hayya Card can ride Doha’s public transportation for free.
