Many 2022 BECE graduates can’t verify their school choices: GES needs to act

Just a day after the Ghana Education Service announced the school choice verification for 2022 BECE graduates, it has come to the attention of the Ghana Education News that, many 2022 BECE graduates and their parents can’t verify their school choices for 3 reasons.

The earlier this gets to the attention of the Ghana Education Service, the better, so that some other alternative ways of verifying the school choices can be made.

Information reaching us is that, some of the phone numbers used to register the students for the BECE and the school selections have been blocked during the SIM Re-registration. How can parent and students who find themselves in this situation get their tokens from the GES to verify their schools?

Currently, those in this category have not been able to receive any notification from the GES.

A visit to the site showed the site was down at the time of our visit. The results is shown in the image below.

Again, some parents whose numbers have not been affected are yet to receive their token from the GES for them to proceed to verify their schools. The more these tokens delay, the higher the probability that, these candidates will not be able to verify their school choices.

To ensure that those in this situation are not disadvantaged, it will be prudent, that the GES quickly put systems in place that will permit students and parents to go back to their JHS to cross-check the schools. Again, the Junior High Schools should be able to access the database as schools so that their students or parents can walk in to verify the schools captured in the system for the 2022 school placements.

It will also help the process if, it is possible for candidates or patents to verify the school choices using their index numbers via a USSD (shot code) instead of using the phone numbers.

At the time of this publication, some parents were yet to receive the Token. They are not sure if the systems for sending the tokens have been initiated. “Pls I want to know if the system has started to work because my token is not in, pls” A parent sought indicated.

Others have complained that the portal is not working as expected. For others, the CSSPS website for verifying the 2022 School Choices is not responding and in some instances the system tells you the code is wrong.

“Please it seems like the portal is not working, I’ve tried several times to fetch my data but not responding. The code sent to is saying invalid. Help please. Thanks.” Another parents attempting to check and verify the schools left that comment.
