|Meet Ghana’s First Female Full Professor of Economics, Grace Nkansa Asante|
At the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor Grace Nkansa Asante has been elevated to the rank of full Professor of Economics, marking a momentous occasion for Ghanaian academia.
The University Council has verified that she is the first woman in Ghana to earn this esteemed title as a result of her accomplishment.

Currently employed with KNUST, Prof. Nkansa Asante is the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her academic career has been noteworthy and influential.
From 2019 until 2022, Prof. Nkansa Asante served as Head of the Economics Department at KNUST, where she played a significant role in educating the future generation of economists.

Her position as a Visiting Lecturer at the Joint Facility for Electives of the African Economic Research Consortium further enhances her scholarly contributions. Professor Nkansa Asante has approximately two decades of expertise in the domains of financial economics, monetary economics, and economic policy analysis.

These areas are the main subjects of her research. Her academic background is impressive; she holds a Master’s degree from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Bachelor’s and a PhD in Economics from KNUST.
In addition to her academic interests, Prof. Nkansa Asante serves the community as an ordained Anglican Communion priest at KNUST’s Archbishop Thomas Cranmer Anglican Church.
