MoE refutes allegations of food shortage in Free SHSs

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has refuted allegations of food shortage in Free SHSs. News broke out accompanied by videos that suggested that SHSs were likely to shut down due to the shortage of food. Letters from some Heads of Schools in the Volta Region communicated and confirmed that supplies to the schools have fallen.
However, in a press release from the Ministry of Education dated October 11th, 2022, and signed by Mr. Kwesi Kwarteng, Spokes Person for the Ministry, the MoE said it was surprised by the news publications and media discussions that purported an imminent closure of some Senior High Schools.
However, the ministry said it is aware of recent disruption within the food supply chain. It assured parents and guardians that the challenges will be resolved soon.
According to the Ministry, “all schools have adequate food supplies “The Ministry wishes to place on record that our checks reveal adequate supplies of food items have been made to the schools in question” The statement said.
