MTN sends new Momo Fraud Alert with guidelines (Check Here)

MTN sends a new warning on Momo Fraud alert as scammers continue to engage in their illegal acts…
MTN Ghana as part of its efforts to help weed out Momo criminals has sent a new warning and advice to its Mobile money service users.
According to MTN, Momo subscribers should report anyone who calls to tell him or her that he wrongly sent Momo.
In addition, you can lodge such complaints by call the toll-free number 100 or asking the person to call 100 for the issue to be resolved.
Do not refund any money to the person directly from your Momo wallet. MTN added that calls of such nature may be scams.

Again, such potential scammer should be reported to MTN via short code 1515 or use the Momo USSD *170#
Note that the only official MTN number is 0244300000 you will never be called with or contacted by MTN Ghana.
How to report a Momo Scam or Fraud
#1. Dial *170# to start
#2. Next, select 6 which is My wallet
#3. Next, choose 4 which is to report fraud
#4. Now depending on what the suspected fraud spoke about Choose the option that corresponds.
1 is Wring transfer
2 is the New reversal process
3 is Fake SMS
4 is Fake Blocking
5 is Fake promotion
#5. Enter the phone number of the Momo Fraudster and send.
It is possible to experience more than one of the above because most often than not Momo Scammers send you a fake transfer before they call you for the reversal.

“Y’ello MoMo subscriber, If you receive a call from someone about a wrong transfer, ask the person to call MTN on 100. Such calls could be scams. Kindly report such numbers via short-code 1515 or USSD *170#. MTN will not call you to take you through any process to show you how to reverse a wrong transaction. MTN will only call you on 0244300000 if it is required. Be alert and Stay safe. Thank you.”

This Momo cam which is becoming rampant all over again must be a worry for everyone who has an MTN Momo Wallet, and it is one of the key reasons why we must all re-register our SIMs to help deal with these scammers.
