No Nose Mask No Trotro – Greater Accra Regional Minister Declares

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, has made a declaration that (No Nose Mask No Trotro) thus any one who does not wear nose masks shall be denied entry to any public transportation service in the region. This directive took effect on Saturday, December 25, 2021.

This is part of measures to ensure the covid-19 sitiatuon in Ghana and Accra is brought under control. Currently Accra remains Ghana’s epicentre of Covid-19.

According to the GHS figures available, Greater Accra is Ghana’s covid-19 hub, with 2,212 active cases, followed by the Ashanti which has 264 active cases.

Commuiters in Accra have become recalsitrant and have defied covid-19 protocols of nosemask wearing. The directive by the Hon. Henry Quartey is expected to be enforced with the help of the Ghana police and drivers who must lead the execution of the order.

The regulation aims to guarantee that practical efforts are taken to limit the spread of COVID-19, and that anyone who do not have a nasal mask would be denied entry to public places.

During the Christmas and New Year holidays, all beaches in the region will be closed to the public. The actions were taken on Friday, December 24, 2012, in the Regional Security Council to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“We entreat all churches in particular, where people will gather for Christmas services, to provide for strict COVID-19 protocols such as wearing of a nose mask, washing of hands under running water, use of hand sanitiser and maintaining social distance.” Hon. Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey said.

Ghana’s total active cases stand at 3165 and 2,212 of that are in Greater Accra alone.
