NPP In The Mud: Party Chairman Drags His Member of Parliament To Court

The feud between the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency chairman, Kwame Asamoah, and his Member of Parliament, Alfred Obeng Boateng, has worsened, with the two leaders currently battling it out in a commercial court in Kumasi.
Kwame Asamoah, the presiding member of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly, is seeking redress over a $300,000 payment for a road contract secured by the MP’s company, WNC Mining, and Engineering Services Limited, from Mensin Mines in April 2022.
Mr. Asamoah claims the lawmaker subcontracted his company, K.A’S Live Company Limited because Alfred Obeng Boateng’s company lacked the necessary certificate to execute the contract after winning the bid.
As a result, he is claiming more than $200,000 from the project budget.
Obiri Boahen, the defendant’s counsel, could not appear in court for the first hearing on Thursday.
The presiding judge, Justice Kofi Akowuah, accepted his excuse and adjourned the case to Tuesday, January 31.
