Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a parliament member from North Tongu, has asked Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to step down. He did this to follow the example of Britain’s Prime Minister Mary Elizabeth Truss, who just fired Kwasi Kwarteng.
Mr. Kwarteng was fired on Friday, October 14th, because the government’s tax cuts are thought to have made the markets less stable.
Here is part of the letter he sent in response to being fired: “You have asked me to step down as Chancellor, and I have agreed.

“When you asked me to be your Chancellor, I did so knowing that the situation we were in was very hard, with interest rates and energy prices going up all over the world. But your view of hope, growth, and change was correct.

In a tweet about this, Mr. Ablakwa said, “Kwasi Kwarteng hasn’t done a fraction of the damage that Ken Ofori-Atta has done to the Ghanaian economy, but he gets fired while Ken gets praise from his family member, President Akufo-Addo, while Ghanaians suffer even more.” Sad, there’s no fairness in the world.”
Kwasi Kwarteng hasn’t done a fraction of the damage Ken Ofori-Atta has caused the Ghanaian economy but he gets to be sacked and Ken is showered with praises from his family member, President Akufo-Addo as Ghanaians languish in more pain.
Sad — no justice in the world. 😭😭😭😭😭
