One shot dead, palace set on fire over chieftaincy dispute

On Wednesday, unknown armed attackers broke into the locked palace of Akirun of Ikirun in the Ifelodun local government area of Osun state and killed Prince Lukman Gboleru.

It was said that security guards at the palace’s entrance and some of the attackers exchanged gunfire, which may have killed the person who died.

Prince Tajudeen Gboleru’s older brother, Prince Tajudeen Gboleru, told reporters about the ugly incident. He said that the late Gboleru led some people to the palace when he heard that some people were trying to force their way in.

His words were, “I heard that security officers and some other people shot at him in front of the palace, and that he died right in front of the palace.”

“I don’t know who really killed him, but either soldiers or police shot him and he died.”

Adekunle Ibrahim, who is in charge of public relations for the state Fire Service Department, said that the department had been told about the fire and that people had been sent to put it out.
