Pencils of Promise supports education in Lower Manya Municipality

Pencils of Promise (PoP), a non-governmental organization dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities, has embarked on an ambitious project to construct a six-unit classroom block for the Nuaso Anglican Primary School in the Lower Manya Municipality, Eastern Region.
This endeavor is bolstered by the support of American rapper Jeffrey Atkins, popularly known as Ja Rule, and aligns with the broader mission of empowering youth through quality education.
The genesis of this project was prompted by a critical 2020 engineering assessment which revealed the existing school structure as dangerously dilapidated, necessitating immediate demolition.
This situation underscored the urgent need for safe and conducive learning environments within the community.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Kailee Scales, CEO of PoP, emphasized that the construction transcends the mere erection of a building; it represents the foundation of hope and knowledge for the community.
She lauded the Nuaso community for their active engagement and commitment to the project, highlighting how their involvement exemplifies the profound belief in the transformative power of education.
Freeman Gobah, Country Director of PoP, elaborated on the organization’s approach, which involves deep community engagement to ensure sustainability and ownership of the educational facilities.

Ja Rule, expressing his passion for educational development, shared his pride in contributing to a project that promises long-lasting benefits for the community.
“Building a school in the heart of Africa for my people is a bold move that I believe in deeply,” he remarked, underscoring his commitment to global educational improvement.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Simon Kweku Tetteh, also expressed optimism that the new classroom block would elevate the standard of education in the municipality, reflecting a collective aspiration for a brighter academic future.
This partnership between PoP, Ja Rule, and the local community illustrates a powerful collaboration aimed at nurturing young minds and fostering a cycle of educational empowerment and community development.
