On Friday, April 18, the police expropriated a large stock of ammunition, which had been tuck away on a commercial bus, which was moving to Benin. The expropriation was made at dawn on Friday, April 18, 2025, during a regular security check at the Tadzewu-Mitsrikasa Police barrier in the Volta Region.
A Hyundai bus with registration number GR 8246-Q, which was travelling from Accra and heading towards Benin, was stopped by officers and conducted a search. This was a police statement released by the Public Affairs Unit.
It said 60 cartons of AAA cartridges containing 15,000 rounds, together with 72 cartons of BB cartridges summing up to 18,000 rounds were found.The police said The materiel was hidden in sacks and buried beneath passengers’ luggages.
According to the police, both the driver who is 45 years old and with the name Abasou Fousseni and his co-driver, 38 years of age with the name Salisu Jalilu were arrested at that moment. The men retracted knowledge about the load, which the police said were being sneaked.
