Preview: Brighton & Hove Albion vs. Tottenham Hotspur – prediction, team news, lineups

Tottenham Hotspur will look to return to winning ways against Brighton & Hove Albion today.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs lost 3-1 to Arsenal in the North London derby last weekend, while Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton drew 3-3 with Liverpool.

Match Preview

Graham Potter did such a great job at Brighton that it will be hard for De Zerbi to improve on last season’s ninth-place Premier League finish, but the Italian was pleased with what he saw at Anfield last weekend.

Leandro Trossard completed his hat-trick in the 83rd minute to secure a draw for Brighton, who could have been four goals up in a dominant start.

Brighton has 14 points from seven matches, one point ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea. They’ve only lost once in the league this season, at Fulham in August.

A victory would put Brighton up nicely for Brentford and Nottingham Forest after Tottenham’s European commitments.

Brighton have won two of their previous three Premier League meetings against Spurs, including 1-0 in April. Spurs triumphed 2-0 last season.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham won five, drew two, and lost one of their first eight Premier League games.

Antonio Conte’s team has won only one of their past four games, and they fell 3-1 to Arsenal last weekend.

. Harry Kane’s penalty tied the score in the 31st minute, but Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka scored for Arsenal.

Tottenham drew 0-0 with Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday to go to second in Group D with four points.

Four points separate fourth-place Marseille from group leaders Sporting Lisbon. Next week, Conte’s team hosts Frankfurt before hosting Sporting Lisbon and Marseille.

Tottenham meets Everton, Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Bournemouth in their next four league matches before visiting Liverpool in November.

Jakub Moder has a long-term knee injury, and Enock Mwepu is ill.

The home side is in good shape, so the same XI could play against Liverpool.

Danny Welbeck was outstanding in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool and should lead the line. Trossard, who scored three times at Anfield, will also operate in the final third. Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo will play in the middle.

Conte postponed the press conference after learning his 61-year-old fitness coach died of leukemia.

Japhet Tanganga, Lucas Moura, and Dejan Kulusevski are injured and Emerson Royal is suspended for the North London derby.

Ivan Perii could move to the right and Ryan Sessegnon to the left, but no other changes are expected.

Clement Lenglet should keep Ben Davies out of a back three, while the absence of Kulusevski will allow Richarlison to play with Kane and Son Heung-min.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s possible starting lineup:
Sanchez; Veltman, Dunk, Webster; March, Mac Allister, Caicedo, Estupinan; Trossard, Welbeck, Gross

Tottenham Hotspur’s possible starting lineup:
Lloris; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Perisic, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon; Richarlison, Kane, Son
