Pupil Teachers directed to stay out of classrooms effective 10th Jan, 2023: Check Official Reasons Here
Ahead of the start of the 2023 academic year for basic schools, information sighted by Ghana Education News is that Pupil Teachers are not to step into classrooms to teach or offer their services.
Te above which was published by EducationGhana furthered that the directive is from the GES to all such teachers in public basic schools. The publication further indicated that the Ghana Education Service was yet to officially communicate this however, the details as captured in this post have been sent to the various District Directorates of Education already.
The directive informed all basic school heads to compile the list of pupil teachers in their schools along with their Staff IDs.
All teachers who are pupil teachers in public schools are not expected to report for the 2023 Academic year.
The directive covers all such teachers who have not been able to upgrade themselves per the requirements of the Ghana Education Service and the National Teaching Council.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) is expected to communicate the above directive officially to various districts in the coming days/weeks. However, all teachers who have not upgraded themselves and fall within the given description are to get in touch with their respective District Directorates of Education for further details.
In a related development, the 2023 academic year for basic schools and secondary schools is expected to start on Tuesday 10th January 2023. The earlier announced reopening date of 9th January was changed by the GES in a late notice issued to the general public since the day was declared a public holiday.
However, the message communicated did not touch on the reopening date for SHS1 students who are currently 2022 BECE graduates awaiting their BECE results and school placements at home.

Per the Transitional Academic Calendar announced by the Ministry of Education, Senior High School year-one students are expected to report to school on February 20th, 2023.
