Rawlings Did Nothing For Ghana – Kofi Amoabeng
The founder of the UT Bank, Kofi Amoabeng, has stated that former President Jerry John Rawlings did nothing for Ghana.
During an interview on Kingdom FM, Kofi Amoabeng stated that Rawlings had a significant opportunity to bring about transformation in Ghana but was unsuccessful in doing so.
According to him, the only thing Rawlings did for Ghana was the transitioning Ghana into the fourth republic.
In his words, “…when Papa Jay came, what did he do for Ghana? After all the people he killed, what did he do for Ghana? He didn’t do anything. What happened to us? But we had some stability, and he gave us the Fourth Republic.”

Kofi Amoabeng went on to emphasize, “But really, everybody who is talking about Ghana and its development says Papa Jay had the best opportunity to turn this country around, but it didn’t happen.”
These comments were made by the former UT Bank boss in response to suggestions that New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong possesses similar qualities to the late Jerry John Rawlings and could be a transformative president for Ghana.
Kofi Amoabeng rejected the notion that Ghana requires a ‘radical president’ to effect change, asserting that even during Rawlings’ leadership, the country did not witness significant transformation.
