Read The Emotional Farewell Message From H.E Bawumia To Christian Atsu

The late Ghanaian international Christian Atsu Twasam has received tribute from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He passed away in Turkey.
On February 6, 2023, a simultaneous earthquake that devastated Turkey and Syria detained football player Atsu, who had previously played for Hatayaspor, for about two weeks.
His deadly remains were found on Saturday, February 18, after several days of searching amid the debris.
On February 19, his body was shipped from Turkey to Ghana.
At the Kotoka International Airport, his remains were received by government representatives, the military, and relatives.
Vice President Bawumia paid tribute on behalf of the government and the president, saying that although the state had hoped to discover the former Chelsea and Newcastle star alive, the reality was quite different.
We anxiously and tensely prayed that our brother Christian Atsu would be found alive following the horrible event that occurred in Turkey around a week ago. Every day that went by, we held out hope. We prayed constantly. But sadly, he was gone when he was discovered,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia invoked the Bible when expressing his condolences to the family, the football community, the Ghana Fans Union, and the entire country, stating, “From him we came and to him shall we return.”
He told the family that the state will assist in arranging a respectable funeral for the former Bournemouth and Everton winger.
He ended by saying, “We pray that the soul of Christian Atsu stay in the bosom of the Lord.
