Refund over charge GNAT dues with immediate effect. This is the latest directive from GNAT to CAGD.
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has directed the refund of GNAT dues difference which was overcharged and deducted from the salaries of members by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department from January 2021 to June 2022.
According to a letter from GNAT to CAGD date June 28th, 2022 sighted by Ghana Education News, The union revealed that it’s checks from the CAGD confirmed there had been an increase in dues deductions which had been charged on the accounts of members.
This upward adjustment led to a GHS1.32 increase in dues deducted as a result of the 4% in base pay for the year 2021.
The increase in the dues was automatically effected upon a written communique from GNAT to CAGD.
GNAT has however directed the CAGD to reverse the extra deduction of GHS1.32 which has been going on for the past 18 months with immediate effect.
“Reverse this dues in arears in 2021 with immediate effect and credit same all affected members of GNAT” the statement instructed.
