The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has called on all headteachers to register all candidates for the 2021 BECE before the official closing date.
Register 2021 BECE candidates before the deadline
According to WAEC, some schools have not registered any candidate for the examination in the Ashanti region. This report compelled the Ghana Education Service to issue the above directive to head teachers.
According to a statement copied to Ghanaeducation.org, all heads of basic schools are to ensure they file the registration documents for the 2021 BECE candidates by the close of Friday, June 11, 2021.
They are to forward the data on all prospective final year students prepared to sit for the 2021 BECE examination.
“You are requested to liaise with the authorities of the schools involved to ensure that all eligible candidates are registered by the close of work on Friday, June 11, 2021,” a release to the Ashanti Regional education director stated.
The release continued that “the Management of affected schools should note that the GES will not be in a position to facilitate any further registration exercise after the June 11, 2021 deadline.”
Heads of the public schools involved the Ghana Education Service said are to be made to offer written explanations as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for such gross dereliction of duty.
Some private schools are indicated that the coronavirus has contributed to the delay in completing the registration of candidates.
