A 23-year-old woman fell into a pit that was likely dug by “galamseyers,” or illegal miners. She died in the pit.
People say that the young woman fell into the pit when she went to see the ladies at dawn.
In a picture shown on the Onua TV/FM morning show on Monday, October 24, 2022, the young woman who fell into the pit and died was being pulled out of the hole by an excavator.
The sad event took place in the Eastern Region at Konongo Odumase.

He said that the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has warned some residents to get out of their buildings because of the cracks that have appeared.
“Nadmo has warned that some houses are even thrown away. “This pit was dug in 2009 and 2010, and now we can see the results,” he said.
In the meantime, Captain Smart is asking the government to give him 21 days to stop galamsey, or they will bury him alive.
“Neither are we witches nor wizards? NIB, find out who dug that hole and put them in jail. If Nana Addo can’t fight the galamsey, he should give me a 21-day deadline, 800 soldiers, and 3 helicopters. If I can’t stop the galamsey in 21 days, they should dig a hole at Gomoa Techiman and bury me alive. “Anyone who is brave enough to go do galamsey will be killed,” he said.
