Scholarship for WASSCE 2020 graduates with excellent grades has been assured by the government. The Ghanaian proverb “He who climbs a good three, receives support” is coming into reality for all candidates who score excellent results in the WASSCE 2020.

Scholarship for Free SHS WASSCE 2020 graduates

The government of Ghana has given assurance that the first group of graduates of the Free SHS policy whose grades are exceptional will be provided full scholarship by the government scholarship for their tertiary education.

This will be championed by the Scholarship Secretariat. This was announced by Mr. Kingsley Agyemang at the Office of the President.

When the WASSCE 2020 results were released, social media was bathed with results showing students obtained straight A’s in all the eight (8) subjects they studied.

Which WASSCE 2020 students will get a government scholarship for Tertiary Education?

Mr. Agyemang while announcing the government’s plans also said, the process to provide the scholarship to the deserving students has been initiated already. Applications received will be scrutinized and needy but brilliant students will have a fair share.

Which Grades will receive the scholarship from the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat?

Despite the excellent grades obtained by Irene Adobea Amanful and John Dankwah, they had no hope of continuing their education at the tertiary level due to their financial backgrounds.

The students wept during the interview because they feared their hopes will be dashed if they do not get sponsorship to continue their education.

During an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Wednesday, two students who are residents of Asuob obtained 6A’s and 2B’s were interviewed. Asuoba is a stream in Ghana and has an elevation of 117 metres. Asuoba is situated south of village, northeast of Dadieso Forest Reserve.

Mr. Agyemang’s statements about what the government intends to do for such students through the Scholarship Secretariat brought smiles to their faces. Students with  6A’s and 2B’s would be considered for the scholarship.

According to him, the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat has been retooled and strategically positioned to be able to perform its functions of awarding scholarships to Ghanaian students for tertiary education.
