SHS Admission: How BECE Graduates Will Be Registered In Senior High Schools After Placement
The admission process in Senior High Schools is quite simple. All BECE graduates who are placed in various senior high schools and TVET institutions during the school placement will be required to do another registration in the schools they have been placed.
Registration is usually done on the very first at school. A BECE graduates will be advised to visit the SHS they have been placed for their prospectus.
The prospectus is a form which explains the items to buy. It also shows the rules and regulations of the school and other terms and conditions.
Before the prospectus, the student will be registered. The registration process in senior high schools takes few minutes to complete.
The senior high school will demand the following.
1. A copy of BECE result.
2. They must also know all their personal information including;
- Parents name
- Next of kin
- Name of guardian
- The telephone numbers of both parents
- Digital Address.
These information will be needed by the school to fill this student’s portfolio. In case of an emergency, the school will need such information.
3. The school placement form will be checked. Students are advised to fill them before they go to the school for the very first time for registration.
There is no fee charge in the registration. Government has taken care of all bills.
However, students may be asked by various department heads to buy certain books for various elective subjects. Others may be made to buy certain items for their programme, including courses like;
- Technical
- Visual arts
- Home Economics
- Science
The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) is an online portal designed for BECE graduates to access Senior High School (SHS) placement after their BECE results have been released by WAEC.
Candidates who have successfully passed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are qualified to check SHS placement via https://cssps.gov.gh/ with your JHS Index Number and Purchased CSSPS eVoucher PIN(the portal is not opened yet)

Here is all you need to know about the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) in Ghana.
The SHS school placement is based on merits from the BECE aggregate and the best choices made after following the CSSPS guidelines.
The CSSPS is done based on six subjects namely; English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, and two additional best-performed subjects of a candidate.
Although there is no specific aggregate for school placement, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has over the year stated that candidates who had aggregate 9 in the English Language, or Mathematics will not qualify for placement.
The CSSPS policy guideline stated, candidates who obtained aggregate 9 in English Language or Mathematics which are the basic required subjects to qualify for placement, such candidate may not be placed by CSSPS.
