SHS Feeding Programme: Over GHS125M released by gov’t
A total of GHS125,998,145 has been released by government to finance the feeding expenses of students in public Senior High Schools nationwide. This was made know by the Ministry of Education on Friday.

In statement sighted by Ghanaeducation.org, the Education said a portion of the amount was made available to the Buffer Stock Company whiles the rest have been sent to heads of second cycle schools for the procumbent of essential supplies including perishable foodstuffs needed for the feeding of the students.
“The government through the Ministry of Education on 14th May 2021, released (GHS125,998,145) of which GHS83,184,673 went to the Buffer Stock Company, with GHS42,813,472 going to headmasters of SHS for the payment of perishable components of feeding to schools.” the letter stated.
“The Ministry is therefore assuring parents and other stakeholders once again that the Free Senior High School (FSHS) initiative is not under stress as was being peddled around by some for reasons best known to them,” Moe stated.

Ahead of the release of the over Ghs125 million, there had been complaints from the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) about the delay in releasing the funds to the schools by the government and the challenges is posed to schools and other stakeholders in implementing the school feeding programme in various schools.
