Suspected g*y beaten to near death in Techiman
A 42-year-old man was almost killed when he was brutally attacked by a group in Techiman traditional area in the Bono East Region because they thought he was g*y.
Isaac Osae Adum’s friends thought he was gay for a long time, even though he always denied it because he had never had a girlfriend and only kept male friends.
When one of his childhood friends showed up at his house out of the blue and took a picture of him with another man, he caught him in a very bad situation.
Then, he didn’t waste any time telling everyone about it and sending out the photo of the two men in a romantic pose.
This made the young people angry because homosexuality goes against their culture and is something they strongly dislike.
The angry young people marched to Adum’s house with all kinds of weapons and beat him up badly in his own home.
He was only taken to the hospital because some good Samaritans couldn’t take any more beatings.
They also told him to leave the community and have been bothering him and even his family ever since. He has openly thought about ending his life because of this.
“I was there when they beat him up, and I’ve never seen anyone, not even a thief, treated that way. He was pleading for his life and telling them it wasn’t true that he was gay, but that only seemed to make the angry teens angrier, “said a person who saw it.
“I feel so bad for him because I don’t think he can even sleep at night because people keep banging on his window and throwing things at it at night, threatening him, and doing all kinds of other things to bother him,” said the witness.
