These guidelines are crucial in ensuring fairness and consistency across all marathon records, but unfortunately, Afua’s attempt fell short in this aspect.

The announcement on Friday, February 23, 2024, marked a disappointing moment for both Afua Asantewaa and her supporters. The Sing-a-thon attempt, which took place over several days in December 2023, saw Afua Asantewaa engage in a relentless pursuit of breaking the existing record of 105 hours of continuous singing set in 2012. Her marathon began at the stroke of midnight on Sunday, December 24, 2023, and concluded on the morning of December 29, 2023, totaling an impressive five days, six hours, and 55 minutes of non-stop singing.

Despite the setback, the Guinness World Records’ statement on X (formerly Twitter) highlighted the inspirational impact Afua Asantewaa ‘s Sing-a-thon attempt had on her fans and expressed hope for her future endeavors. In a gesture of goodwill, they also refunded the priority review fee paid by Asantewaa’s team, signaling respect for her effort and the spirit with which she undertook the challenge.
