Major Ministerial Reshuffle Expected Today

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is poised to announce a significant ministerial reshuffle, marking one of his most extensive since assuming office on January 7, 2017. According to insider sources at Jubilee House, the unveiling of the revised ministerial lineup is slated for today, Wednesday, February 14th, Valentine’s Day.

Tuesday afternoon witnessed a flurry of activity on the fourth floor of Jubilee House, with ministers potentially affected by the reshuffle and other MPs expected to benefit from the changes making their way to the premises.

In accordance with the 1992 constitution, President Akufo-Addo will present the list of ministerial appointments to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, with the official announcements to be made during Parliament sessions.

President Akufo-Addo is set to embark on an official trip to Europe tomorrow, Valentine’s Day, with the list of appointments to be delivered to the Speaker before his departure.

Insiders from Asaase News suggest that around 12 current ministers of state, including ten cabinet ministers and two regional ministers, could be affected by the reshuffle.

Reports from Jubilee House indicate that some prominent figures may be relieved of their ministerial positions, while others might be reassigned.

Additionally, it is anticipated that approximately seven deputy ministers will be impacted, with potential replacements coming from the Majority side of the House.

Sources within Jubilee House reveal that President Akufo-Addo has been engaged in meetings throughout the day with ministers and deputy ministers affected by the impending reshuffle.

Furthermore, there are discussions within Jubilee House regarding a potential reshuffle of the Majority leaders in Parliament, following an anticipated meeting between the ruling New Patriotic Party’s leadership and the presidency.
