Tailei Qi, UNC-Chapel Hill Student Charged With Murder After Shooting Professor
Tailei Qi, a graduate students has been charged with murder after shooting a professor. Qi, who is a graduate student at the North Carolina University has murdered a professor by shooting him.
Today, the charged murderer of the gun shooting of the Professor, Tailei Qi, appeared in court. Tailei Qi hails from China and a Physical Sciences student.
The judge for the sitting today, disclosed that Tailei Qi should be in the hands of the authorities without any fringes.
Tailei Qi is 34 years old. Qi, was charged with felony for the possession of gun, when he made his first court appearance today in the orange jumpsuit.
The charges by the judge on the 34 year old Tailei Qi, had no comments from the defendant’s attorney. A hearing has been set on the 18th of September 2023.
Murder charges carries two punishments, a death penalty or a life imprisonment. The district attorney disclosed that Tailei Qi is in no state to accept a death penalty as a punishment.
The incident happened on the campus of UNC close to a science facility. Tailei was taken in on the afternoon of 28th August 2023 after he murdered the professor.
The sad incident occurred on the UNC campus where students were warned of a possible armed man at 1pm and later issued another warning to the students exactly at 2:24pm.
The suspect, Tailei Qi was later arrested by the police around the campus of UNC.
Students on the UNC campus were forced to a lockdown when the incident happened. Viral videos seen has been disheartening so far. Students were seen panicking and trying to run out of campus through windows.
Brian James, the UNC Police Chief disclosed that students were still held in the lockdown even after the suspect was apprehended. The lockdown also affected close by schools.
