Teacher Unions Unhappy with 67th Independence Theme

As Ghana commemorates its 67th anniversary of independence from colonial rule on March 6, 2024, three teacher unions at the pre-tertiary level express their disappointment over the loss of national pride in the country.

These unions include the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT).

They believe that the current economic challenges and diminishing sense of pride among Ghanaians have had a negative impact on the country’s democracy.

The 67th Independence Day celebration is set to be held in Koforidua, Eastern Region, under the theme “Our Democracy, Our Pride”.

However, the leaders of GNAT, NAGRAT, and CCT are dissatisfied with the chosen theme. In an exclusive interview with 3news’ labor correspondent, Daniel Opoku, they suggested the need for a national dialogue to address the prevailing issues.
