GNAT Legal Action: Teachers Provident Fund Board dragged to court

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has taken a bold decision and has dragged the Board of Trustees of Teachers Provident Fund to court.
A statement issued by the General Secretary of (GNAT) Mr. Thomas Tanko Musah indicated that the union filed the application on 21st June 2021 for an INTERLOCUTORY INJUNCTION at the Accra High Court against the Board of Trustees of the GNAT PROVIDENT FUND SCHEME popularly known as TEACHERS PROVIDENT FUND.
Why GNAT dragged Board of Trustees of Teachers Provident Fund to Court
The application by the union aims at seeking a court injunction to prohibit the board from holding any meeting (s) including one the board is scheduled to hold on 23rd June 2021.

Information reaching Ghanaeducation.org shows, the Board has duly been served the INTERLOCUTORY INJUNCTION from the Accra High Court.
The GNAT leadership has taken the decision because due to efforts to alter details about the GNAT PROVIDENT FUND (GPF) which is the brainchild of the union.
To ensure its interest is fully respected and protected, GNAT and has therefore directed that:
1. The Teachers Provident Fund (TPF) be reversed to its original name; GNAT PROVIDENT FUND (GPF).
2. The Current Board of the GPF be replaced with an interim Board.
3. Any meeting of any sort not authorized by the NCoG is therefore illegal, null and void, and of no effect.
The application for a court injunction on the activities of the Board of Trustees of Teachers Provident Fund was triggered by a text message making rounds on various social media platforms asking members to nominate persons to serve as Trustees for the GNAT Provident Fund (Teachers Provident Fund).

The GNAT has advised members of the union to disregard the message as the leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) takes steps to respond appropriately.
