Ghanaian popular artist manager and entertainment pundit BullGod known in private life as Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson has disclosed that high cost of data and poor network system are the major causes of poor performance of Ghanaian songs on various music steaming platforms.
BullGod speaking on TV3 ‘Newday’ Entertainment Segment, revealed that many Ghanaian music enthusiasts wish to stream Ghanaian songs on well known digital portals, but cost of data is curtailing them whiles others too are affecting by unstable network.

“Let’s talk about the matters and these are facts. Check your streams and you’ll know all is from outside. If you check, the reason why we don’t stream our music is because data is expensive. If the artistes are genuine with their analytics, they will tell you that most of their streams are from outside, Ghanaians living in the diaspora.”
“Out there, let’s say in the other regions if they are relaxing and they want to stream music, the thing will not even stream, and you’ll see nor kpa, your 10 cedis worth of data is gone. Who will try that thing?”
“Nobody is sitting in Tarkwa or wherever where the network is even bad there will stream your music. Look, we are in Accra, and you know Accra is the hub, and everybody makes wild dey go find something. How many people will be streaming music?”, he said.
He furthered that artist on other countries are getting more global recognition and high numbers when it comes to music streaming because they do not face challenges in poor network connectivity and high cost of data.
BullGod believes that reducing cost of data to by the various telecommunications companies to the extent of which everyone can afford can help improve statistics of Ghanaian songs on the global music market.
