Three(3) Schools That Are Likely To Win The 2023 NSMQ Competition

The National Science and Maths Quiz(NSMQ) is an annual science and mathematics content-based national level quiz competition for senior high schools in Ghana. It has been produced by Primetime Limited, an education-interest advertising and public relations agency, since 1993.

The 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz(NSMQ) competition is underway. There has been some surprises in the competition so far with other interesting results.

Let’s take a look at some schools that are likely to win this year’s competition.

1. Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School, Legon(Legon PRESEC)

Legon Presec is the currently the number one favorite SHS to win this year’s competition. On July 6, 2023, the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon emerged as the 2023 Greater Accra Regional Champions of the National Science and Maths Quiz Competition, beating rivals Accra Academy, Chemu SHS, and Tema Methodist SHS.

Title holder as the 2022 National Champion of the National Science and Maths Quiz(NSMQ), as well as the only school to have won the regional title back-to-back from 2020 through 2022 and now in 2023. The school’s impressive performance in the competition has solidified its reputation as a dominant force in science and maths education.

2. St. Augustine College

St. Augustine’s College is the second favorite school to win this year’s competition. The school is an all-male boarding academic institution in Cape Coast, Ghana. The school started at Amissano, a village near Elmina, in 1930. In 2019, the school were crowned champions of the competition. They hope to repeat same performance this year.

3. Adisadel College.

Adisadel College could be ranked as the third school that could lift this year’s trophy.  The school is popularly  known as “Adisco” and it’s an all-boys school. It is located in Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana. The school’s motto is “Vel Primus Vel Cum Primus.Adisadel College, popularly known as “ADISCO”, is an Anglican boys’ boarding school in Cape Coast, Ghana. Adisadel College is one of the oldest senior high schools in Africa, and was ranked 10th out of the top 100 best high schools in Africa. It was established in 1910. The school has good history in the competition and they hope to win it this year.
