Nursing Trainees Plead for Forgiveness from Mahama
In a heartfelt plea during one of the events of former President John Dramani Mahama’s #BuildingGhana Tour in the Bono East Region, a group of nursing trainees have Plead for Forgiveness from Mahama for their past political decisions. The Nursing Trainees expressed regret for rejecting the policies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate before the 2016 elections.

During the event, a representative of the nursing trainees read a petition, acknowledging their mistake in trusting the promises made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2016 elections. She metaphorically described the situation, stating, “Your Excellency, we were presented with what seemed like a free virgin, only to be presented with ‘a born eight times over’.” The Nursing Trainees claimed to have been deceived by false promises, which they now recognize as lies.
Reflecting on their naivety, the Nursing Trainees spokesperson continued, “How naïve it was for us to place our trust in them despite warning that fell on our deaf ears. Please accept our unreserved apology for not heeding your advice during the 2016 election. From the depth of our hearts, we sincerely apologize.”
Drawing inspiration from the Bible, specifically John 20:23, the spokesperson appealed for forgiveness. She quoted, “Jesus Christ said if you forgive our sins, their sins would be forgiven, and if you don’t forgive them, their sins would not be forgiven. Your Excellency, we seek forgiveness for our transgressions… we beg you; we did not do well, we are pleading with you.”

This public apology highlights the complexities of political decisions and the realization that, at times, promises made during elections may not align with reality. It also underscores the importance of humility in acknowledging mistakes and seeking reconciliation. Whether this plea will influence the political landscape or Mahama’s perspective remains to be seen, but it serves as a poignant moment in the #BuildingGhana Tour, emphasizing the significance of accountability in the democratic process.
