Transfer Update: Yannick Carrasco To Join FC Barcelona In The Summer
According to SPORT, Barcelona will definitely sign Yannick Carrasco, a winger for Atletico Madrid, in the summer. They got an option to buy the Belgian player during talks to sell Memphis Depay.
At first, the Catalans wanted to sign the 29-year-old player in exchange for Depay, but Atletico Madrid did not agree to this deal.
In the end, the Dutchman signed a deal with the Rojiblancos for a total of €4 million, including add-ons. As part of the deal, though, Barcelona confirmed that they had gotten the right to sign Carrasco for good in the future.
According to reports in the Spanish media, the Catalans could do this for about €15–20 million.
And now, SPORT says that Barcelona has already decided to sign Carrasco in June after having that option. In order to do this, they have already told the winger’s family and friends the same thing and said they are confident he will come in the summer.
It is said that everyone at the club thinks the move is a good one because they think the Belgian international can help the team. The 29-year-old has been given the go-ahead from both a sports and a business point of view.
The coaching staff thinks that Carrasco can open up the play in the final third and has good technical skills, both of which are things that Xavi likes to see in his wingers. It is also said that the club has heard good things about him both personally and in his work.
The report also says that Carrasco’s salary won’t be a problem for the Blaugrana because the Belgian is willing to take a low salary that works for the club.
The winger wants to move to Barcelona and was ready to push for a move in January. But he will have to wait until the summer to move to Camp Nou. According to reports, the Catalan giants will sign him in June.
This move could mean that Xavi is ready to make some changes to his offense, which hasn’t been doing as well as it could this season. Aside from Robert Lewandowski and, to some extent, Ousmane Dembele, none of the other forwards have been consistent enough.
Barcelona might try to sell one of them to make room for Carrasco’s arrival
