1. Clear and Watery
This type of discharge can occur at any time of the month and is usually considered normal.
It may become heavier after a workout or during times of increased estrogen levels, such as ovulation.
2. Clear and Stretchy
When your discharge is clear, but stretchy and mucous-like, similar to egg whites, it usually indicates that you are ovulating. This is a normal part of your menstrual cycle.
3. Milky White or Creamy
A milky white or creamy discharge is common at the beginning and end of your menstrual cycle.

Normal as long as it does not have an odor, this type of discharge can also indicate early pregnancy.
4. Yellow or Green

Trichomoniasis, a sexually transmitted infection (STI), is commonly associated with green or yellow discharge. If you notice this type of discharge, it’s essential to see a healthcare provider.
5. Brown or Bloody
Brown or bloody discharge is usually related to your menstrual cycle, and it’s normal to see this type of discharge at the beginning or end of your period.
However, if you experience this type of vaginal discharge at unusual times, it meanings could be a sign of irregular menstrual cycles, or in rare cases, a more serious condition like cervical cancer.
Implantation bleeding, which is a sign of early pregnancy, can also cause a slight brown or bloody discharge.
6. White, Thick, and Chunky
A white, thick, and chunky vaginal discharge, often described as looking like cottage cheese, is typically a sign of a yeast infection.
Yeast infections are common and can cause itching, redness, and irritation along with the distinctive discharge.
7. Grey and Smelly
A grey vaginal discharge that has a strong, fishy smell may indicate or has meanings of bacterial vaginosis (BV), a common but treatable bacterial infection of the vagina.
It’s essential to seek medical advice if you suspect BV, as it can lead to further complications if left untreated.
