WAEC Releases Results Of First-ever Computer-based WASSCE For Private Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has recently released the first ever computer-based WASSCE for private candidates results.
This pioneering venture into computer-based examinations heralds a new era of efficiency and innovation.
Out of the 8,362 candidates who eagerly registered for this historic examination, a commendable 8,006 have already had their results meticulously processed and released to them. However, a small fraction of 133 candidates are still undergoing processing, a testament to WAEC’s commitment to ensuring accuracy and fairness in the assessment process.
Among the 8,139 candidates who sat for the examination, the numbers paint a promising picture of achievement and success. A notable 3,424 candidates secured credit and above in at least 5 subjects, demonstrating a commendable proficiency. Furthermore, 2,519 candidates achieved the coveted milestone of credit and above in a minimum of 5 subjects, including the pivotal English Language and Mathematics. This reflects not only academic excellence but also a testament to the dedication and hard work of these candidates.
However, amidst this sea of accomplishment, a few ripples of concern emerge. The results of 56 candidates are currently withheld due to reported cases of examination malpractice, underscoring the importance of upholding the integrity of the examination process.

In a bid to ensure transparency and fairness, investigations are underway for 413 candidates whose conduct during the examination warrants further scrutiny. The outcomes of these investigations will be meticulously reviewed by the appropriate committee, with decisions communicated directly to the concerned candidates. Additionally, candidates whose results are withheld have the opportunity to seek redress through the established channels, underscoring WAEC’s commitment to justice and due process.
The meticulous coordination of examiners and the thorough marking of scripts took place at three esteemed venues in Lagos, Enugu, and Kaduna, involving the dedicated efforts of 459 examiners. This rigorous process underscores WAEC’s unwavering dedication to maintaining the highest standards of assessment and evaluation.
In a heartening display of inclusivity, 21 candidates with special needs were among the participants, with WAEC ensuring their seamless integration and support throughout the examination process. This reaffirms WAEC’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for all candidates, regardless of their unique circumstances.
