WASSCE 2022 cheating: Social & English for 5th and 8th September 2022
WAEC has cautioned schools, candidates, and heads of institutions against illegal acts as candidates get ready for the WASSCE 2022 Social Studies & English Language to be administered on 5th and 8th September 2022.
The two core subjects have been scheduled for Monday and Thursday: September 5 and 8 across the country in what has been dubbed Ghana Only WASSCE.
The WAEC has also tabled important issues it described as emerging from the conduct of the examination. These are partly measures and partly warnings with punitive measures for candidates, other individuals, and schools that will breach the rules of the examination in any way.
The emerging issues tabled include the following.
Restriction of Access to School Compounds for Monitoring Purposes. WAEC has indicated that access to centres will only be opened to authorized persons. WAEC however cautioned school authorities not to prevent examination monitoring officers from gaining access to the examination centre to carry out their work.
WAEC further cautioned students and other persons who have the intention to breach the rules of the examination by smuggling mobile phones into the exam hall. It said the Smuggling of Mobile Phones into Examination Halls by Candidates will be punished. A student’s entire results will be cancelled if caught.
Again, the council indicated that school authorities are collecting monies from candidates and organizing syndicate cheating in their schools. WAEC called on them to put a stop to the practice before the law catches up with them.

The Council added that impersonation cases have been on the increase in the school examination and tasked officers to use the Biometric Verification Device (Vericheck) to identify candidates.
These measures it is hoped will help deal with potential cheating by individual candidates and schools and ensure the credibility of the examination and WAEC is protected.
Good luck to all WASSCE 2022 candidates as they get ready for WASSCE 2022 Social Studies & English Language to be administered on 5th and 8th September 2022.
