When WAEC releases the 2022 WASSCE results, one of two things will happen to students who took the WAEC-administered exam. These outcomes include the following
a. Some candidates will check their results and know whether they passed on or not
b. Some will check their results only to find out that their results have been blocked and thus withheld pending some form of investigation by WAEC.
If option one or “a” above occurs, you are safe however should option two “b” occur, you will have a lot of pressure to deal with.
If your results are withheld by WAEC, it could mean WAEC has issues with the results. Either you have an examination malpractice allegation against your name or something related to it. When your results are withheld, what do you do?
What To Do If WAEC Withholds Your 2022 WASSCE Results
The first thing to do is not panic
The second most important thing to do is to contact any of your school authorities or teachers and find out if there are any issues they know about regarding your results.
Again, you need to log onto WAEC’s website to check if your name has been captured as part of candidates who are under investigation for engaging in any WASSCE infractions.
To do this, follow the following simplified steps…
#1. Go to waecgh.org
#2. Click on the withheld results link
#3. Click on WASSCE (School0 option) and proceed
#4. On the page, scroll through the list until you find the results withheld list for the region your school is located in. E.g. if your school is located in Greater Accra, click WASSCE 2022 WITHHELD RESULTS LIST (GREATER ACCRA REGION) to proceed.
#5. After clicking and opening the PDF for the region where your school is located, look for your Index number and your name. Check and double-check to confirm that your name is not on the list. If your name and the index number are in the list, it means your result has been withheld by WAEC and you have to attend their meeting on a given date and at a specified venue.
#6. Look out for the message that read like this “The listed candidates (please click on the withheld button for details) who took part in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates, 2021 and were allegedly involved in examination irregularities, are being kindly invited to the Accra Office of The West African Examinations Council on 11th to 13th May, 20XX.”
The invitation is to assist the Council to conclude its investigations into the alleged irregularities.
Candidates are being informed that their refusal to honour this invitation shall not preclude the Council from making a final determination on the cases.
#7. Go to the investigations programme to defend your results and explain your issues relating to the alleged irregularities during the examination.

#8. After the meeting, WAEC will take some time before giving a final verdict. If your results are released, they will be accessible on the result portal, or else, that ends it. WAEC may punish you with some punitive measures which may include imprisonment, cancellation of your subject, or entire results.
