The first broadcast murder sentenced her to life.
Jemma Mitchell, 38, committed the “really terrible offense” against Mee Kuen Chong, 67, after she refused to pay £200,000 to restore her £4 million crumbling family home.
The self-styled healer, who bragged of her award-winning ability in human dissection, killed the devout Christian to acquire the majority of her estate—worth more than £700,000—by falsifying her will.
She allegedly struck Ms. Chong in the head with a weapon at her London home in June 2018. Two weeks later, she traveled over 200 miles to Devon’s Salcombe coastal resort and left the fragile divorcee’s severed and decaying corpse in the woods.

Judge Richard Marks KC called Ms. Chong “very wealthy” and “quite kind” who “proactively sought to assist” Mitchell.
‘This resulted in her proposing to give you £200,000 to spend on the property, an offer through which she retracted a few days before you murdered her, which I am sure prompted you to do what you did.’
He sentenced Mitchell to life with a minimum of 34 years, saying, ‘The severity of your crime is truly shocking, even more so considering your apparent religious dedication as well as the fact that Deborah Chong was a dear friend to you and had shown you much compassion.’
On June 11, 2018, Mitchell arrived at Ms. Chong’s house with a huge blue bag. Jurors saw CCTV video of the incident.
After four hours, she left the Wembley, northwest London apartment with larger luggage.
She carried a smaller bag containing Ms. Chong’s financial paperwork, which was subsequently found at Mitchell’s residence.

She originally helped Mitchell via a religious group, but days before the murder, she advised her to sell everything.
Mitchell returned to the UK in 2015 after growing up in Australia, where her mother worked for the British Foreign Office and started an osteopathy company.
