You Are ‘Misleading’ Ghanaians – Kwesi Pratt Tells Minister

Randy Abbey was joined on Good Morning Ghana today, Wednesday, October 12, 2022, by Kwesi Pratt, the managing editor of the newspaper Insight, and Ntim Fordjour, an MP for Cape Coast South, Deputy Minister of Education, and Minister with the VBCI Higher Heights Sanctuary.
Education, especially the education of girls, was one of the main topics of discussion. Yesterday was the International Day of the Girl Child, which was a big deal all over the world.
Ntim Fordjour says that the NPP and Akufo-Addo have raised the quality of education. Ntim used a number of figures to show that the NPP has done a good job of improving girls’ education.

Again, he read from a paper about how free education has changed everything, and how about a quarter of a million girls between the ages of 6 and 14 have never been to school. He also said that 80,000 girls between the ages of 12 and 17 are married to men or living with them.
Ntim said that this number was better than what the NPP had expected to find. Kwesi Pratt, on the other hand, didn’t agree that this is a better number.
He said that the document isn’t about giving girls a better education, but rather about giving statistics about girls. He explained that if this was data to show how the NPP have improved the girl child education, then they should have compared it to boys, so Ghanaians see the proper comparison and not just one-sided.
“Randy, the honorable deputy minister is giving us false information. You are lying to us. It’s not about fairness. The numbers we have don’t say anything about equality.
So what do people who have never been to school know about equality? It’s something you made. This document will show how many women in a certain age group aren’t in school, are married, or live with a man. Kwesi told me.
