‘You’re Stabbing the President in the Back’ – Allotey Jacobs Blasts NPP MPs Calling for Ofori-Atta’s Dismissal
Bernard Allotey Jacobs has criticized the members of parliament from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) who want Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen, to step down.
Over eighty (80) members of the Majority Caucus have signed a petition to the President to get rid of the two ministers. They have also threatened to stop doing government business in Parliament if the President doesn’t do what they want
At a press conference on Tuesday, the MPs said, “If our request isn’t granted, we won’t be there for the hearing on the budget, and we won’t take part in the debate either.”
Eugene Boakye Antwi, the Member of Parliament for Subin MP and one of the most vocal supporters of getting rid of Mr. Ofori-Atta and Adu Boahen, says that if the President won’t get rid of Ken, he should add Parliament to the Executive and let Ken Ofori-Atta run Ghana.
During the “Kokrokoo” morning show on Peace FM on Wednesday, Allotey Jacobs talked about the situation and said that he didn’t like how the MPs treated President Nana Akufo-Addo.
He says that the way the MPs put their request in front of the President smells of arrogance.

He told them, “Some of you are proud,” and warned them to watch what they said.
The MPs’ actions were also seen by the social commentator as a betrayal of President Nana Addo.
They are “stabbing the President in the back . . . For the MPs to come out openly, you are stabbing the President in the back. They didn’t behave well. However, they were expressing the feelings of thousands of their supporters who voted for them to be MP or to be MPs,” he exclaimed.
